This program provides students with insight on the day-to-day activities of a high-volume sports medicine & orthopaedic practice. Our practice routinely provides college students (and select high school students in health-related classes) who are interested in sports medicine & orthopaedics the opportunity to observe various departments within our organization. We do our best to accommodate as many qualified applicants as possible. PLEASE NOTE: There is a very high demand for this program. The residency training will begin in late July or early August 202 The applicant selected for the residency will be notified early April 2022 and will be given 7 days to reply to the offer.Interviews for the applicants will begin Mawith an initial phone interview followed by a more in-depth virtual interview.Applications will be accepted from Decemthrough February 14, 2022. #ANDREWS SPORTS MEDICINE SURGERY SCHEDULER SALARY PROFESSIONAL#At the completion of the residency program, the athletic trainer will be prepared to comfortably transition to a focused position in the hospital/orthopaedic practice setting or to continue their professional development with advanced certification programs. The residency program will nurture personal and professional development through opportunities involving direct patient care, personalized mentoring, skills lab training, professional conferences and research endeavors. Residents will also work alongside countless allied health professionals including advanced practice providers (PAs/NPs), fellow athletic trainers, certified medical assistants, registered nurses, certified orthopaedic technologists, radiology technologists, physical therapists, licensed orthosis providers, and social workers to deliver world class patient care to all populations. Residents will rotate with surgical and non-surgical sports medicine physicians at the world-renowned Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama. The residency program incorporates clinical, surgical and didactic experiences as well as a scholarly curriculum. Floyd ASMI Athletic Training Residency Program was founded in 2021 as a pathway for certified athletic trainers to advance their skills, knowledge and experience within the physician practice setting of sports medicine and orthopaedics during a paid 12-month educational opportunity.
